2020 F1 calendar

The draft 2020 F1 calendar has been revealed. The schedule will feature a record 22 races if it is approved by the FIA’s World Motor Sports Council.

There are 22 events on the draft schedule for the 2020 F1 season. They include the new Vietnamese Grand Prix, which will be held at a street circuit in Hanoi during April, and the Dutch Grand Prix, which is returning to the schedule following a 35-year absence.

 

The Albert Park circuit in Melbourne will hold the first round of the championship as it has done every year since 1996, with two exceptions. The season will end at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, which has been the season-closing race since 2014.

While the majority of races take place on permanent road courses, Hanoi will be the fourth street track on the calendar, joining Monaco, Singapore and Baku.

Testing dates

There will be six days of pre-season testing ahead of the start of the 2020 championship, a reduction from the eight which were held in 2019:

• 19th-21st February: Circuit de Catalunya, Spain
• 26th-28th February: Circuit de Catalunya, Spain

Further in-season and post-season testing dates have not yet been confirmed.

Significant changes on next year’s calendar

Zandvoort will return on the 2020 F1 calendar

As a result of Hanoi and Zandvoort’s new contracts, the schedule will feature 22 races, which is the most ever held in a single season.

While new rounds have been added in Vietnam and the Netherlands, Germany has lost its round of the world championship.
